I’m so happy to show you the new member of our family : Woody
He’s born the 1st of March 2017 (7 weeks old) and he joined our family last Monday.
It was a long time that I wanted to adopt a little Jack Russell. I learned many things, read many books to be sure he can be happy with us. It’s a demanding breed.
The day before his coming we prepared and secured our home, and bought little things for him like a crate or some toys. I want also to give him a good diet so I decided very quick to prepare myself his meals. I think it’s really important (like for me) to know exactly what he eats.
His first night was fine, he cried twice but at the morning he was happy and wanted to play with us immediately. Yesterday (the day after his coming) in the morning, I showed him to a vet (with papers provided by the breeder) for a medical check to be reassured that his healthy was good and it’s the case. Soon when his vaccines will be done I will go to a school to educate and socialise him. In waiting, I can go out with him (in a basket for the moment) to familiarise him with streets sounds, and to show him others humans. But he needs to be out of others dogs for the moment.
For sure I already thinking to design a little collection of knitwear for him (and for dogs), Winter is coming in Australia. It would be funny !

Je suis très heureuse de vous présenter le nouveau membre de notre famille : Woody
Il est né le 1er mars 2017 (il a 7 semaines) et a rejoint notre famille lundi dernier.
Cela faisait longtemps que je souhaitais adopter un Jack Russell. J’ai appris beaucoup de choses, lu beaucoup de livres pour être certaine qu’il puisse être heureux avec nous. C’est une race exigeante.
Le jour avant son arrivée , nous avons préparé, sécurisé notre maison et acheté des petites choses comme sa boîte de transport et des jouets. Je souhaite aussi lui donner une très bonne alimentation, j’ai donc décidé de très vite lui préparer moi-même ses repas. Je pense que c’est important de savoir exactement ce qu’il mange (tout comme pour moi).
Sa première nuit s’est bien passée malgré des pleurs par 2 fois. Le matin Woody était déjà heureux et voulait jouer avec nous.
Hier matin (soit le lendemain de son arrivée), je l’ai montré à un vétérinaire (avec les papiers fournis par l’éleveur) pour un contrôle médical complet afin d’être rassurée de son bon état de santé et ce fut le cas.
Bientôt, quand la série des vaccins sera terminée, je prévois d’aller avec lui au dressage pour son éducation et sa sociabilisation. En attendant je peux sortir avec lui (dans un panier pour le moment) pour le familiariser aux bruits de la rue et rencontrer des humains. Mais il ne doit en aucun cas voir des chiens pour le moment.
Évidemment, je pense déjà à créer des petits pulls pour lui et pour chiens, l’hiver arrive en Australie. Ça peut être un peu fun !
