January favorites
Janvier est bientôt terminé (déjà) et j’ai découvert de nouveaux univers que je suis en joie de pouvoir partager avec vous ici. De quoi s’inspirer pour les derniers mois d’hiver, recycler nos restes de fils, chiner des cartes postales ou de vieux portraits. J’espère que ces artistes vous inspireront autant que moi. Pour finir cet article je partage aussi avec vous ma playlist du mois qui accompagnent encore ces jours-ci mes tricotages (pour nouveaux projets à venir).
Je profite aussi de cet article pour vous rappeler que je déstocke un peu avant les prochains ateliers et stages de tricot, les affaires sont par ici.

January is almost over (already) and I have discovered some new little world which I am delighted to be able to share with you here. Something to inspire you for the last months of winter, recycle our leftover threads, hunt for postcards or old portraits. I hope these artists will inspire you as much as I do. To finish this post I also share with you my playlist of the month which still follow me these days for my knitting (new projects to come).
HOLLY CHASTAIN
Une artiste et illustratrice qui élève le collage au rang d’art. Son travail a une belle qualité de narration, mélangeant des matériaux trouvés, des éléments graphiques (forts) et de belles palettes toute en modernité. J’ai eu un vrai coup de cœur pour son travail. Elle vit dans le Tennessee.

Holly Chastain is a paperphile studio artist and illustrator. Her work has a story-telling quality, mixing found material, strong graphic elements and modern palettes. I really fell in love with her work.
This artist lives in Tennessee.
HAN CAO
Difficile de trouver le mot juste pour décrire le travail de cet artiste. Elle réécrit des histoires en brodant sur des vieilles cartes postales ou photographies qu’elles chinent tout autour du monde. Un travail remarquable et inspirant. Han Car brode directement sur les cartes et inventent ainsi de nouveaux souvenirs.
Han is a self-taught artist currently living in Palm Springs.
She uses embroidery to create new narratives for long-forgotten photographs and postcards found at flea markets and antique shops from around the world. All embroidery on the artwork is done by hand, directly onto the original found image.
Her art combines fibers of embroidery thread with the paper fibers of each photograph to connect with the fibers of our own being – as the added dimension of each work challenges our self-identity and personal connection with unfamiliar people and places
MUSIQUE D’HIVER
L’hiver reste pour toujours ma saison préférée. Ce temps pour l’introspection, pour les détails, la chaleur du cœur.
Plus de temps aussi pour la lecture, les jours plus courts me déculpabilisent de me faire de grands chocolats chauds. Et puis janvier annonce déjà le printemps, les jours rallongent, cadeau de l’hiver.

Winter is forever my favorite season. This time for introspection, for details, and the warmth of the heart. Also more time for reading because days are shorter days and not needing an excuse to snuggle up with a mug of a hot chocolate. But January is already counting down to spring, days are getting longer, our winter's gift.
